Dr Jyothi Thomas completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry from School of Medical Education,Mahatma Gandhi University,Kerala.She did her Fellowship in Clinical Optometry from L.V.Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad following which she commenced her academic journey in the Department of Optometry, Manipal College of Allied Health Sciences under Manipal Academy of Higher Education. She completed her Master of Optometry and earned her Doctor of Philosophy from Manipal.Dr Jyothi was instrumental in buiding up and stabilising the department in Manipal.She was the Incharge of the optometry programme for almost 13 years.She has guided many undergraduate and post graduate research projects and has an academic experience of over 17 years.
Dr Jyothi has many fellowships(national and international) and awards to her credit.She has published many research papers in peer reviewed and high index journals.Dr Jyothi has many conference and workshop presentations to her credit.She is the member of Curriculum Task force Commitee for Optometry constituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. Her areas of interest include paediatric optometry, contact lenses and public health optometry.
