DEPARTMENT OF OPTOMETRY

Course Duration

4 years(including 12 months of compulsory internship), Affiliated to Kerala University of Health sciences (KUHS).

Eligibility Criteria

To get admission for the programme, the candidate should have passed 10 +2 with :

  • A minimum of 50% aggregate or above for Physics,Chemistry and Biology from a recognised institute. Seperate minimum pass mark for physics,chemistry and biology is mandatory.
  • Candidates should have studied in English.
  • Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission.

The scope of practice for Optometrists includes conducting comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing, managing and co managing common eye ailments.Optometrists can provide specialized services such as Pediatric or Geriatric eye care,Contact Lens care,Low vision care, Sports vision /Occupational eye care and Community Eye care.

With advancements in technology and research in the field of optometry, there are constant opportunities for professional growth and specialization.
