The camp was conducted at Karunya Theeram, Kattipara — a distinguished and unique institution dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of differently-abled individuals. The institution serves as a sanctuary of compassion, providing specialized support, skill development, and a dignified living environment for persons with physical and intellectual disabilities.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CAMP
- To provide free blood group identification to residents and members of Karunya Theeram, Kattipara.
- To promote awareness about the importance of knowing one’s blood group among differently-abled individuals.
- To extend the outreach services of MMC Blood Centre to underserved and special-needs communities.
- To foster community engagement and social responsibility through collaborative healthcare initiatives.
- To build capacity within the Dept. of MLT by providing students hands-on experience in community health services.
The blood collection camp was conducted successfully with the enthusiastic participation of 40 members from Karunya Theeram, Kattipara. The camp created a significant positive impact within this special institution:
- All 40 differently-abled members were successfully screened and received their blood group reports.
- The camp enhanced awareness about blood group importance among a population with limited healthcare access.
- Students of the Dept. of MLT gained valuable exposure to community service and hands-on diagnostic skills.
- The initiative strengthened the bond between MMC Blood Centre and the Karunya Theeram institution.
